Häufige Fragen
- Wo liegen meine Bücher?
- Auf deinem Gerät, im Speicher deines Browsers oder der App. Ohne Konto und ohne Cloud-Sicherung verlassen sie dein Gerät nie.
- Wie sichere ich mein Buch?
- Im Buch oben „Mein Buch als Datei“ → „Sicherungskopie“. Die Datei enthält alles, auch Versionen und Figuren. Einlesen kannst du sie im Regal über „Sicherungskopie einlesen“; sie kommt immer als zusätzliches Buch dazu und überschreibt nichts.
- Wie schreibe ich auf mehreren Geräten?
- Schalte im Fenster „Auf allen Geräten“ die Cloud-Sicherung ein. Auf dem zweiten Gerät scannst du den QR-Code oder gibst den Wiederherstellungscode ein. Deine Bücher werden Ende-zu-Ende verschlüsselt abgeglichen; wir können sie nicht lesen. Auf dem iPhone hat die App auf dem Home-Bildschirm eigenen Speicher: Gib den Code dort einmal ein.
- Ich habe meinen Wiederherstellungscode verloren.
- Auf jedem Gerät, das noch verbunden ist, findest du ihn im Fenster „Auf allen Geräten“. Ist kein Gerät mehr verbunden, können auch wir ihn nicht wiederherstellen, denn nur der Code öffnet deine verschlüsselten Bücher. Deshalb lohnt eine Sicherungskopie.
- Funktioniert Bookling ohne Internet?
- Ja. Schreiben, Planen und Überarbeiten gehen offline. Sobald du wieder online bist, gleicht Bookling ab, wenn die Cloud-Sicherung an ist.
- Was kostet Bookling?
- Ein Buch ist kostenlos, ohne Zeitgrenze. „Bookling“ kostet 7 € im Monat oder 59 € im Jahr, „Bookling Buddy“ mit dem KI-Gesprächspartner 11,99 € im Monat oder 99 € im Jahr. Beide kannst du 14 Tage kostenlos testen. Einzelheiten in den AGB.
- Wie kündige ich mein Abo?
- Unter „Mein Konto“ → „Abo verwalten“ oder mit einer kurzen E-Mail an uns. Das Abo endet zum Ende der bezahlten Zeit; deine Bücher bleiben erhalten und lassen sich weiter öffnen und exportieren.
- Was passiert mit meinem Text bei Book Buddy?
- Book Buddy ist aus, bis du ihn für ein Buch einschaltest. Dann geht nur, was du bei einer Frage ausgewählt lässt, an Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt. Dort wird nichts gespeichert und nichts zum Lernen verwendet. Book Buddy schreibt nie in dein Buch. Mehr in der Datenschutzerklärung.
- Wie melde ich etwas im Lesesaal oder auf dem Wunschbrett?
- Unter Ausschnitten und Kommentaren gibt es „Melden“. Wir lesen jede Meldung selbst. Die Regeln stehen in den Regeln für den Lesesaal.
- Wie lösche ich mein Konto?
- In der App unter „Mein Konto“ → „Konto löschen“, oder ohne App per E-Mail. Schritt für Schritt: Konto löschen.

Frequently asked questions
- Where are my books stored?
- On your device, in your browser’s or the app’s storage. Without an account and without cloud backup they never leave your device.
- How do I back up my book?
- In the book, tap “My book as a file” → “Backup” at the top. The file contains everything, including versions and characters. You can open it from the shelf via “Open a backup copy”; it is always added as an extra book and never overwrites anything.
- How do I write on several devices?
- Switch on cloud backup in the “On all your devices” window. On the second device, scan the QR code or enter the recovery code. Your books are synced with end-to-end encryption; we cannot read them. On the iPhone, the app on the home screen has its own storage: enter the code there once.
- I lost my recovery code.
- On any device that is still connected, you find it in the “On all your devices” window. If no device is connected any more, we cannot recover it either, because only the code opens your encrypted books. That is why a backup is worth it.
- Does Bookling work offline?
- Yes. Writing, planning and revising work offline. Once you are back online, Bookling syncs if cloud backup is on.
- What does Bookling cost?
- One book is free, with no time limit. “Bookling” costs €7 per month or €59 per year, “Bookling Buddy” with the AI conversation partner €11.99 per month or €99 per year. You can try both free for 14 days. Details in the terms of service.
- How do I cancel my subscription?
- Under “My account” → “Manage subscription”, or with a short email to us. The subscription ends at the end of the paid period; your books are kept and can still be opened and exported.
- What happens to my writing with Book Buddy?
- Book Buddy is off until you switch it on for a book. Then only what you leave selected for a question goes to Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt. Nothing is stored there and nothing is used for training. Book Buddy never writes into your book. More in the privacy policy.
- How do I report something in the reading room or on the wish board?
- Excerpts and comments have “Report”. We read every report ourselves. The rules are in the reading room rules.
- How do I delete my account?
- In the app under “My account” → “Delete account”, or by email without the app. Step by step: Delete your account.
